oil change draining grand blanc

An oil change is the most important maintenance item for vehicles.

During an oil change, the technician drains out old motor oil and replaces it with new. The oil filter should also get replaced at this time. The purpose of oil is to lubricate the internal engine parts.
As oil ages it breaks down and becomes less effective at lubricating. Old oil, low oil pressure and lack of oil can all cause damage to your engine as the moving parts of the engine rub together and wear each other out.

Manufacturer recommended maintenance schedules typically suggest changing your oil every 3,000 - 5,000 miles, some are even showing 10,000 miles these days. Factors like driving in cold climates, towing a trailer, or aggressive driving, can make it necessary to change your oil more often.

If you plan to keep this big cost investment, It's a good idea to double what the manufacturer suggests for maintenance. Only because there are differing motivating factors. The manufacturer wants the vehicle to cross the finish line of the warranty period. You as the buyer wants the Machine to last as long as possible. Doubling your maintenance in the long run cost far less than another engine or whole vehicle! At a bare minimum and a general rule, oil should be changed twice each year.
It is a good idea to keep an eye on your pressure gauge and also check the oil level regularly between oil changes. Some manufacturers tell you it's normal to "use" up to a quart of oil every 1000 miles. They also include disclaimers to the way the driver handles the vehicle causing potentially more "use" between oil changes. If the gauge shows that the pressure is very low, or if the "oil" light comes on or if the dipstick registers below the "safe" level, you may need to add oil.
If you regularly run low on oil, be sure to report it to your mechanic; you may have a leak or may be burning oil, either of which if caught soon enough can save your vehicle from severe damage and huge amounts of money to repair the situation.
