What does an Automotive Technician Apprentice Do?
As an Automotive Technician Apprentice, you will be paired with a professional technician to learn how to repair vehicles. In this role, you will shadow an experienced, certified technician, watch their techniques, and observe how they use different tools and equipment. You will learn which tools are for what repair, then practice using the equipment. Automotive technician apprentices often begin with relatively easy tasks such as tire installation or oil change and progressing to more complex jobs such as a multi-point inspection.
How can I become an Automotive Technician Apprentice at Grand Pointe?
The primary qualifications for becoming an automotive technician apprentice are ok standing on their feet for long periods of time, able to lift 50+ pounds, attention to detail, communication skills, and the drive to learn the industry. Here at Grand Pointe, we do not expect you to have any professional work experience but having a genuine interest in automotive vehicles and some basic knowledge is a great help! Automotive technician apprentices usually work our regular business hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, with the possibility of being asked to come in early or stay over to assist with repairs.
